Local Farmers – Local Food

The ECRDC is excited to let you know we have received funding through USDA to establish a Regional Food Business Center (RFBC).  There are 12 throughout the country.  The ECRDC is part of the North Central RFBC, along with other entities in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota.  What this means is USDA has provided us with funding for the next 5 years that will allow us to help small- and mid-sized food producers with the tools and support they need to sell their products.

The purpose of creating the RFBC’s is to strengthen the regional supply chain and provide economic opportunity to:

  • farmers and growers
  • food processors and distributors
  • food outlets (like grocery stores and farmers markets)
  • food chain partners (like senior nutrition sites, schools, and healthcare facilities)

We want to hear from you!

On November 2nd, the ECRDC will gather a group of those involved in local foods systems, from producers to distributors, to create an action plan of the best way to move forward so we are able to provide technical assistance most needed in the region. This will be held at the ECRDC offices, 100 Park St. S., Mora MN 55051 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.  Please RSVP by clicking the Register button below.  For more information you can contact Darcy Rylander at finance.director@ecrdc.org or 320-679-4065.  Local Farms Local Food flier.
